10 Facts You Didn't Know About Me...

Updated: Jan 14, 2024

1. I was born in... Cheltenham. ...Born in Cheltenham, bred in the North East!

2. I Once Met... Dr Ranj! I was over the moon to meet TV presenter and doctor, Ranj Singh, whilst photographing an event for a local nursery: Shotley Bridge Nursery School. I've taken many staff and promotional images for the nursery, and this was certainly one to remember.

Dr Ranj presented the nursery with a Millie's Mark Award. He had an incredibly warm and friendly personality and it was an honour to have the opportunity to meet him. Of course, I had to get a selfie!

3. My first job was... As a cleaner. I cleaned the lodges and villas at Slaley Hall, Northumberland from age 16-18. Several years later, I was commissioned by Slaley Hall (QLodges) to take promotional photos of the grounds, including inside their newly renovated villas - and I felt like I'd gone back in time! Having been a cleaner there years before, I knew exactly where everything needed to be and if so much as a cushion was out of place, I spotted it straight away and could position it in the right place for the shot. A selection of my photos are pride of place, displayed on the walls of the lodges and villas at Slaley - something I'm very proud of!

4. I've shot 30+ weddings I've captured over 30 weddings at some stunning venues throughout the North East. My favourites are Horton Grange Country House, Newton Hall and Shotton Grange.

5. I have a degree in... Graphic Design. I went back to college after having my daughter to finish my degree and I graduated in 2014. I have a passion for all things creative, so I find having the benefit of design and photography skills has been fantastic for my business and keeps my creative juices flowing!

6. I was once commissioned to photograph... Crufts Best in Show 2014, Devon (show name 'Burneze Geordie Girl'). I was approached by Marie Burns, who owns a local grooming salon, Top Trimz and Training Centre. It was fascinating to learn all about Marie's dogs and I learned loads of interesting facts about maintenance, care and training in preparation for dog shows, such as Crufts. My work was proudly used to promote Wafcol dog food and images I took of Devon still feature on their website today.

7. My biggest accomplishment is... Having my work published. I'm very proud that my photographs are featured on a client's book cover and published in magazines, brochures, websites - even signage and company vehicles. It brings me immense joy and pride that my work is valued so much by my clients.

9. The most bizarre thing I've seen at a wedding has to be...

A giant, love-heart-shaped pork pie in place of a wedding cake. I wasn't expecting it - and wasn't prepared for it - but it was definitely something I won't forget!

10. My favourite season is... Autumn. To me, nothing beats those golden browns and orangey-red hues, the crisp, fresh air and the cosy feeling of an autumn day! Bonus Fact:

11. I share a birthday with... Snoop Dog! (Apt, given my obsession with dogs 🤣)
